Wine regions

22 wine districts are to be found in Hungary. This is quite high amount in comparing with other countries.

Some of our wine districts (e.g. Nagy-Somló, Pannonhalma) have smaller territory than 1.000 ha. These smaller wine districts cannot compete with the foreigner wine districts.

That is why so important the cooperation of the wine districts is. Due to the initiative of the wine districts the Danube Wine Region (Hajós-Baja, Kunság, Csongrád wine districts), the Balaton Wine Region (Nagy-Somló, Badacsony, Balaton-felvidék, Balatonfüred-Csopak, Balatonboglár wine districts) and the Pannon Wine Region (Tolna, Szekszárd, Pécs, Villány wine districts) were established in the last years.
