According to the law 2004. XVIII. “about the viticulture and wine-growing” 22 wine districts are in Hungary.
5 wine districts (Sopron, Pannonhalma, Ászár-Neszmély, Etyek-Buda, Mór) are situated in the northern part of Trans-Danube, 6 wine districts (Zala, Nagy-Somló, Balaton-felvidék, Badacsony, Balatonfüred-Csopak, Balatonboglár) around the Lake Balaton.
The Tolna, Szekszárd, Pécs, Villány wine districts are to be found in the South-Trans-Danube Region.

The wine districts of the Hungarian Plain are Hajós-Baja, Kunság and Csongrád. The Mátra, Eger, Bükk, Tokaj wine districts are situated in the northern and eastern part of Hungary.
The exhibition of the House of Royal Wines and Cellar museum gives an opportunity to have an overview on the Hungarian wine growing traditions, wine history and the old instruments of the vineyardists.
