Pálinka room

The tradition of pálinka making goes back to the period our king Károly Róbert, up to the XIV. century.

Initially, mainly cereal- and wine pálinkas were made. The fruit-distillates spreaded only in the XVIII. century. The former "aqua vitae"  ("water of life") called drink was sold as a medicine till the XVI. century.

Today the name "pálinka" is allowed to be used only in Hungary. Pálinka can be produced pnly from grape pomace or fruit that had been harvested, mashing, steaming, fermented and bottling in Hungary.
